Is Your Honey Real?

Honey is a natural sweetener that has many health benefits. But the shocking truth is the honey you are buying from the grocery store is NOT real honey. A 2011 investigation found that 75% of honey in grocery stores contained no honey at all. Honey is ONLY considered real and not artificial when it contains pollen. The most disturbing thing found is that most of the honey in stores, and restaurants is being secretly imported from China, and may even contain foreign material and antibiotic drugs. Also fake honey goes through ultra filtering that removes all of the health properties. So now that you are aware that there are fakes out there its important to find the real healthy honey for you and your family.

Tips to Buying Real Honey:
  • Look for labels that read "Raw" "Organic"
  • Look for honey that was made in the United States.
  • Shop for honey at places like Trader Joe's and local farmer markets.
  • Become friends with a beekeeper and buy directly from them.
As always its important to consume the real natural version of any food. Time and time again it is proven that not only is there adverse consequences, but also diminished health benefits to consuming anything artificial. Being educated and well informed what you and your family are consuming is a huge step to GREAT health.
