Organic Gardening!!

Starting a organic garden can be a big overwhelming project, but is worth the health benefits in the end.Eating organically grown foods can both help the environment by decreasing toxic chemicals, and help your family by decreasing the amount of pesticides and chemicals you consume. Food grown with chemicals and pesticides have shown to cause a variety of serious health problems from tumors to digestion problems. Below is some basic things you need to start your organic garden today!!

Organic Seeds-The seeds you use to grow your crop must also be organic, meaning plant seeds raised without the presents of pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
No Synthetic Fertilizers/Pesticides-There are natural alternatives to fertilizer, such as prepackaged organic materials you can purchase online or in your local garden center.
Make Your Own Compost-Plants strive in a good compost, and the best is the one you make yourself in your own garden. Just using leftover kitchen scraps, such as dried egg shells, veggies/fruit peels and coffee grounds.
The Right Soil-Clay soil has more nutrients, and can hold water better. But sandy soil is well drained but needs a lot of work to make it a good gardening soil. But with the help of organic matter they can both be improved. With the presence of organic matter, the soil's texture is improved, and attracting soil organisms that create nutrients in the soil.

After you have some organic staples for your garden, a lot of the gardening practices are the same as a traditional garden. Keep in mind that organic gardens do not look perfect, or nice, they are for health and survival. Also you will not believe the difference when you taste a organically grown vegetable or fruit, its a surprising freshier and a much better taste than chemically grown food.
