The Natural Benefits of Kava!!

Kava, which is also referred to sometimes as kava-kava is a crop that is found in the western Pacific. The root of the plant is used to produce a drink that has natural sedative and anesthetic properties. Fresh Kava root contains 80% water, when the root is dried it has 43% starch, 20% dietary fiber, 15% kavalactones, 12% water, 3.2% sugar,3.6% protein and 3.2% minerals. The root will be matured and harvest after a minimum of four years, to get the full potential of Kava. Overall Kava has very natural beneficial properties that can help with various problems from cancer to sleeping.

Natural Beneficial Effects of Consuming Kava:

Anxiety- Kava producesa relaxing and calming effect. It can also improve cognitive performance and promote a cheerful mood.
Pain of the Mouth- Kava can help numb the mouth and contains natural topical anesthetic properties.
Sleeping Problems-Helps with Trouble Sleeping or Having Restless Sleep.
Cancer-May Help in Killing Cancer Cells, The Aberdeen University, published research that said that Kava has been shown to kill ovarian and leukemia cancer cells. The compound of Kava target only cancerous cells, and does not harm healthy cells.

Adverse Effects:

Interaction-it has been documented that there have been several adverse interactions with both prescription and nonprescription drugs.
Abuse-There have been some research to suggest cases of abuse or over-consummation of Kava.

How to take Kava:

Traditional- the traditional way to consume Kava is to prepare it by either chewing, grinding or pounding the roots of the kava plant. The product is then added to cold water and consumed as quickly as possible.
Western-Western Counties usually make the Kava using Kava root powder. The powder is then added to a cup of water, and then added to improve flavor.

Ready-To-Drink Kava Beverages-Vanuata Beverage launched Lava cola, also known as kava cola in 2009. The soft drink contains kavalactone additives, which promote relaxation. King Kava which is produced in Brooklyn makes handmade organic kava beverages. Kalm which is produced in San Jose California is a Kava drink that is similar to the classic Kava preparation, but combines the Kava with fruit juice purees.
Pills/Herbal-Kava can be taken as a pill or chew able capsule to help with pain in the mouth, and throat.

Overall I think that Kava is a good natural alternative to prescription medicines for anxiety, pain and sleeping problems. Kava does not have nearly as many side effects as prescriptions and in same cases are less addicting and habit forming.
