Organic Gardening!!

Starting a organic garden can be a big overwhelming project, but is worth the health benefits in the end.Eating organically grown foods can both help the environment by decreasing toxic chemicals, and help your family by decreasing the amount of pesticides and chemicals you consume. Food grown with chemicals and pesticides have shown to cause a variety of serious health problems from tumors to digestion problems. Below is some basic things you need to start your organic garden today!!

Organic Seeds-The seeds you use to grow your crop must also be organic, meaning plant seeds raised without the presents of pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
No Synthetic Fertilizers/Pesticides-There are natural alternatives to fertilizer, such as prepackaged organic materials you can purchase online or in your local garden center.
Make Your Own Compost-Plants strive in a good compost, and the best is the one you make yourself in your own garden. Just using leftover kitchen scraps, such as dried egg shells, veggies/fruit peels and coffee grounds.
The Right Soil-Clay soil has more nutrients, and can hold water better. But sandy soil is well drained but needs a lot of work to make it a good gardening soil. But with the help of organic matter they can both be improved. With the presence of organic matter, the soil's texture is improved, and attracting soil organisms that create nutrients in the soil.

After you have some organic staples for your garden, a lot of the gardening practices are the same as a traditional garden. Keep in mind that organic gardens do not look perfect, or nice, they are for health and survival. Also you will not believe the difference when you taste a organically grown vegetable or fruit, its a surprising freshier and a much better taste than chemically grown food.

Energy Drink Enemy!!!

Unless you live under a rock you have heard that energy drinks have raised much concern and controversy lately. There have been story after story in the news lately about teens who have consumed the drinks becoming very ill and dying. But the truth is that energy drinks are very unhealthy not only for teens but for the population as a whole. Below is a list of health problems as a result of consuming energy drinks.

Headache & Migraines: Energy drinks contain large amounts of caffeine and this cause headaches due to caffeine withdrawal symptoms.
Allergic Reactions: Energy drinks contain many ingredients, and can cause adverse and allergic reactions from minor to serious such as constriction of the airways.
Drug Interaction: Energy drinks contain ingredients that can interact with prescription medications, especially those taken for depression.
Diabetes: Energy drinks contain high amounts of sugar, that can wear out the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, thus leading to Type 2 Diabetes.
Cardiac Arrest/Heart Risk: Those with underlying heart conditions have gone into cardiac arrest because of energy drink consummation.Heart attack risk is also present in healthy individuals, a 2010 study found that just one energy drink can cause blood vessels to narrow.
Also BPA, which is a chemical used to line most mental cans, has also been shown to trigger abnormal heart rhythms.

Regardless of all the news the facts remain that energy drinks contain stimulant drugs, that can use mental or physical harm. Illness or even death is not worth the a few moments of sugary energy.
