Big Goals, But with Small Benchmarks Goals-If you want to lose 60 pounds it maybe very overwhelming, and then in turn intimidate you into losing hope and not even beginning. But If you know your big goal is 60, but start with making a goal to lost 20 pounds in the next two months. Therefore once you lose the first 20 pounds, you start again at the next 20 pounds, and so on. This way your bigger goal does not overwhelm you and therefore you will be able to reach it in some time.
Schedule it into your Day- If you want to start a workout routine this year and stick with it, but must schedule it into your day. Otherwise if you say everyday I will go to the gym later, later becomes tomorrow, and tomorrow becomes next week. But those who are most successful in sticking with a workout routine all year long, schedule into their day, just like a dinner date, or meeting.
Write it down or Use a App- Writing down your plan or using an app like Fitness Pal, can help you keep track of your goals, your progress and ultimately your success. It will also keep you motivated to see your progress along the way and help you reach your goal.
Don't Beat Yourself Up- The key to achieving a goal is taking it one day at a time, and sometimes you will have a bad day. Say you cave and eat unhealthy one day for lunch, instead of dwelling on it all day, and giving up. Acknowledge you made a mistake but resolve to eat a healthy dinner, and get right back on track. Everyone is going to have a day where they do not eat totally healthy, but one day doesn't have to ruin a whole healthy lifestyle.
