The Health and Safety Benefits of Napping!!


Taking naps as an adult are often viewed as a sign of laziness or unproductivity. But they can be very beneficial to your performance at your job as well as your health. Short naps have shown to reduce accidents and mistakes time and time again. And naps can even improve alertness, performance, attention and concentration. Naps also aid in boosting your mood and ability to manage stress. Follow the following rules to take the most effective nap that will not interfere with a good nights sleep and a productive day.




Nap Rules:

  • Short- 20 min power naps are much better than longer ones because the longer naps can get into deeper stages of sleep, leading to an increased feeling of grogginess upon awaking. Also longer naps can interfere with nighttime sleep. 
  • Before 2pm- Naps taken before 2pm, usually do not interfere with nighttime sleep. But if you find that you are having trouble sleeping at night, do not nap at all during day.
