So we have all heard the medical reports that say drinking a glass of wine a day can be highly beneficial to your health. Well beer drinkers, congrats your day has come, there has been significant research to suggest that drinking beer can be highly beneficial to health as well.
Health Benefits:
Heart-More than 100 studies have shown that moderate drinking trims risk of heart attacks and dying from cardiovascular disease by 25 to 40 percent. A few beers a day can help raise levels of HDL, the "good" cholesterol that helps arteries from getting clogged.
Bones-Beer has high levels of silicon, which is linked to good bone health. For the best benefits, try a pale ale, because a 2010 study of 100 beers linked pale ale to be richest in silicon.
Brain-Beer may help lower your risk for Alzheimer's and dementia. A study done in 2005 tracking the health of eleven thousand older women showed that moderate drinkers (one drink a day) lowered their risk of mental decline by as much as 20 percent, compared to non-drinkers.
Vitamin Levels-Beer contains B12, Folic Acid, and B6. A dutch study found that beer-drinking participants had 30 % higher levels of vitamin B6 levels in their their blood compared with non-drinking participants.
Kidneys-A study done in Finland found that among other alcoholic drinks, beer lowered the risk of developing kidney stones by 40 percent. The theory is that beer's high water content helps keep kidneys working since dehydration increases kidney stone risk.
Diabetes-A Harvard study in 2011, found that those who only drank occasionally raised their alcohol intake to one to two beers daily, their risk of developing type 2 diabetes dropped by 25 percent. They found that alcohol increases insulin sensitivity, thus helping protect against diabetes.
Live Longer-The USDA reported in 2005 that moderate drinkers live longer. The USDA also estimated that moderate drinking prevents about 26 thousand dealths per year, due to lower rates of stroke, diabetes, and heart disease.
Now we are not trying to promote drinking in excess, so remember the health benefits are present in one or two drinkings, not the whole case. Drinking in excess can open you up to a world of trouble, and cause more health problems than health solutions. Remember nobody enjoys a hot mess, of drunkenness.
